2017 High School English Summer Reading

Students are to read the books for their course prior to the first day of classes. Click on the links to find assignment instructions for each course.  All packets, journals, etc. and annotated paperbacks are due the first day of school. Please note that all books are required unless directions specifically say to CHOOSE one or more. These assignments will be accepted late but a letter grade will be deducted for each late day after the first day of school.  New students who register after August 1 will be granted a 2-week extension.

Teachers will begin the fall semester with assignments, reading comprehensions and/or tests based on these books. These will be designed to test your reading comprehension of each work.  To do well, you should actively read each work, summarizing events of each chapter (in the book somewhere) as you read, listing characters, etc.  Annotations or assignments are required in every class; click on links below to access those instructions and assignments.

 *  This book has an assignment and/or annotation requirements to be completed BEFORE school begins or will have a reading comprehension quiz on the first day of school.
